What is Quarry Academy?
A 3-day technical course that will address current best practices in unit operations with a focus on systems integration, economic sustainability, process improvement, cost reduction and the use of practical safety as a part of daily work behavior.
What makes Quarry Academy unique?
Quarry Academy not only addresses critical processes within the quarry, it focuses on the relationship between each process, how they systematically interact with one another and how they can be linked to improve overall operational improvement.
What subjects are covered?
Topics include improved safety, drilling, blasting, fines and boulder management, load and haul, fleet management, crushing and screening, the quarrying process, quarry management and unit operation efficiency.
Who should attend?
Quarry managers, executives, supervisors and owner/operators on the production and business side of quarry companies will benefit from the program.
Who are the presenters?
Sandvik has assembled a team of expert instructors, each with years of industry experience in quarry and mining operations around the world. The focus will not be on Sandvik products, but on the processes within the quarry that drive productivity and improve efficiency.
Where will it be held?
This year’s Quarry Academy will be held at Sandvik’s North American Training Center in Atlanta, Georgia, just a short drive from Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport.

When is it?
The seminar will begin at 8 am, on November 2nd, 2010. Attendees should arrive on November 1st. The seminar will conclude at 3:30 pm on November 4th, 2010. Please schedule departing flights at least 2.5 hours after the end of the last class to allow for travel to airport and security processing.
How do I apply to register?
Space at Quarry Academy 2010 is limited. If you are interested in attending this year's program, please apply by completing the application form. We will notify you via e-mail of your acceptance and provide you with a login and temporary password. Once accepted you may login in to the alumni area to for additional information. The alumni area includes options to pay online for your registration. See below for payment details.
Where will I stay?
The preferred hotel is the Courtyard Atlanta Vinings Hotel. A special room rate has been secured. If you choose to secure your room via telephone please be sure to mention you will be attending Quarry Academy.

How will I get there?
Transportation will be provided between the Courtyard and the Quarry Academy each day.
What should I bring?
Steel toe shoes are required to visit the quarry site on Wednesday. Hard hats and ear plugs will be supplied or you are welcome to bring your own.
How much will it cost?
The cost to register for Quarry Academy 2010 is $1175 per person. Once your registration has been accepted you may pay via credit card or Paypal. Payment information can be found under your Account Information page when you first login.
