Tuomo Pirinen
Tuomo.Pirinen@sandvik.comTuomo Pirinen is the Head of Digital Solutions for Sandvik Surface Drilling, based in Sandvik Tampere site in Finland. He joined Sandvik in 2007 and has held several expert and management positions in drilling product management, R&D and product support. Currently he is coordinates Sandvik’s digital offering for Surface Drilling. In addition to day-to-day business duties, he studies surface drilling applications and provides expertise and support for Sandvik’s customers and staff.
Prior to joining Sandvik, Tuomo worked as a research scientist at Tampere University of Technology in Tampere, Finland from where he earned MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science in 2002 and 2009, respectively. He has also worked as a research visitor at the International Computer Science Institute at University of California, Berkeley. Tuomo has also taken a shot-firer’s license in Finland.
Tuomo has three teenage sons, with whom he spends most of his time. In his spare time, Tuomo loves taking part in outdoor activities or attempting to find a decent groove on his drum kit. He also contributes to ice hockey events for the NHL and IIHF World Championships as an ice team chief.
