Miguel Valenzuela, PE

Miguel Valenzuela is a Senior Consultant with Dyno Nobel’s DynoConsult team. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering from the University of Utah and has more than a decade of experience across open-pit gold, copper, iron, quarry, and surface coal operations in engineering, technical, and operations-focused roles.

His experience includes mine engineering and planning, drill-and-blast design and optimization, advanced blast performance analysis, and the development and implementation of value-driven improvement projects. In his current role, Miguel works with operations to look beyond the blast itself and understand how drilling, blasting, and fragmentation influence downstream productivity, cost, and overall process performance.

Miguel is particularly focused on Advanced Customer Solutions such as Drill to Mill and Drill to Leach, where site data, analysis, modeling, and field implementation are used to identify the outcomes that create value, optimize the process around those outcomes, and measure the results.

Miguel began his mining career as a Dyno Nobel intern in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin, where he developed his interest in explosives, blasting, and the role they can play in improving the entire mining process.
